Position Summary

This position will establish the best-in-class quality capabilities for the multiple product lines of Amplify Snack Brands by defining the optimal quality standards to consistently produce superior products from multiple facilities. This position will develop and oversee all quality and regulatory programs, processes, and policies for Amplify’s suppliers, distributors, co-manufacturers and co-packers. The position will assure adherence to Hershey’s/Amplify’s policies and standards as well as those mandated by federal, state, and local regulations and requirements through a variety of methods, including but not limited to, auditing and monitoring. The position will identify and assure implementation of processes and structure to pave the way for innovation and growth by setting standards and priorities. This role also includes staying current with and sharing process improvements, best demonstrated industry practices, and spreading awareness of standards and priorities throughout the Amplify organization. This position requires in-depth knowledge of USDA/FSIS, FDA, and state regulations, plus compliance with food safety and quality standards. This position must also stay current with scientific support of related co-manufacturer and supplier operations.

This position will work collaboratively with many other functional areas, including R&D and Marketing, Sales, Operations and Co-Man/Co-Packers. The position must assure adequate and clear communications (both written and verbal) within Operations, across Amplify leadership and into Hershey as needed. This position will have responsibility for leading the Quality & Regulatory team (1-3 employees).

Responsibilities

Ensure correct and consistent quality processes are followed for all production facilities
Work with multiple manufacturing sites on quality expectations, product specifications, product commercialization and product improvements
Optimize and standardize all quality and food safety programs to ensure consistency throughout the supply chain
Ensure all recall procedures are well documented within the scope of the quality control procedures
Establish quality KPIs with the goal of continuous improvement in all aspects
Create and maintain corporate quality manual
Manage emerging issues and consumer contact trends
Facilitate and communicate quality issues with Operations team and the Amplify leadership team
Safeguard brand equity through continuous improvement in quality and regulatory systems and effective risk management
Promote a positive and collaborative working environment between Amplify and the co-packers
Provide recommendations to ensure Amplify understands the balance between performance and quality
Support integration activities of anticipated business acquisitions

Qualifications

BS in a technical field such as Food Science, Meat Science, Food Microbiology. MS is desirable
Minimum 12-15 years’ experience in the food industry and experience with manufacturing quality systems, USDA/FDA regulations, GFSI standards and auditing
Strong knowledge of quality policies/procedures
Strong data-based and analytical problem solving skills, including statistical analysis and root cause analysis
Excellent leadership capabilities with strong influencing skills
Preferred Certified Quality Engineer or green belt
Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Experience working in an environment with multiple co-manufacturers/co-packers
Must be able to travel up to 50% of the time with possible weekend travel and overnight stays. Must be flexible to participate in trips that arise with short notice
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving, and collaborative entrepreneurial environment
