A fantastic opportunity is available for a R&D Associate, Nutrition Scientist to join our R&D team in Parsippany, NJ.

Summary

The Nutrition Scientist role is integrated within Global Medical Affairs and responsible for strategic medical and evidence generation activities throughout the entire life cycle of the product. This role is key in guiding and shaping innovation and development of the Global Vitamins, Minerals & Supplements Category (VMS). Under the guidance of the Medical Lead, this role will provide expert technical input on all medical and clinical matters and help define and drive the medical evidence strategy that supports new product development. In close partnership with Marketing, Innovation, and Product Development this role is critical in shaping the innovation strategy for the category and advancing the reach and effectiveness of RB’s Healthcare business.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Help define and execute appropriate medical and development strategies in collaboration with the Medical Science Lead, Medical Science Director and other team members
  • Proactively support the project teams, providing medical insight and strategic advice to ensure the feasibility and success of product development initiatives
  • Provide ideas/concepts for constructing the product pipeline (e.g. new products, new combinations, new technologies)
  • Work closely with the innovation team to review ideas and drive competitive advantage in the therapy area
  • Provide clear point contact to the commercial and other R&D teams as an expert in the therapy area for all medical and clinical matters
  • Provide consistent, high quality medical science support for the allocated therapy area
  • Conduct fair-balanced assessment of efficacy and safety data and provide advice on the best medical approach to drive brand growth
  • Serve as a product expert and develop in-depth understanding of the literature and current medical opinion
  • Provide medical advice to project teams regarding new clinical data or medical press coverage that may impact upon the successful completion of a project
  • Support ideation, substantiation, and defence of claims, as well as challenges against competitors' claims
  • Develop and deliver medical trainings to internal and external stakeholders such as sales teams and key retail customers
  • Create, review, and approve Medical-Marketing materials, conduct assessment of due diligences, and provide scientific competitive intelligence in the therapy area
  • Support product marketing and R&D teams in creating scientific and medical communication messages and manage brand related medical information
  • Provide medical support and oversight for promotional activities
  • Proactively liaise with external key opinion leaders to enhance the Company's knowledge base. Input relevant information to the project teams to influence strategic project direction.
  • Act as contact person for external queries as regards medical / scientific aspects of appropriate RB products
  • Support regional organisations with technical information pertaining to the therapy area

Professional Qualifications and Experience

· Minimum of an MS or PhD in a Life Science with preference in Human Nutrition is required. Registered Dietitian is highly desirable.

· 2+ years of relevant consumer healthcare industry experience in a pharmaceutical, OTC, nutritional, medical device or life sciences company is required

· Previous medical affairs experience in New Product Development with examples of successful product launches.

· Experience of working closely with commercial colleagues and an understanding of corporate and operational business issues

· Ability to understand, interpret and communicate medical and scientific information is essential

· Effective medical and scientific writing skills

· Knowledge of healthcare regulations, evidence generation, clinical trials, promotional affairs and KOL management

· Broad knowledge of international regulatory frameworks as they relate to medical and clinical requirements for product registration and research

· International understanding and flexibility to travel / work across locations and time zones

· Experience of guiding teams, managing in a matrix and working with ambiguity

· Strong people, influencing and relationship skills built in a complex matrix environment
