Parking and Mail Services Associate

Washington State University - Spokane, WA

Driven by daily workload demand at the WSU Health Sciences Spokane campus, this position regularly performs responsibilities between two separate units within the Facilities Operations Department.

Parking Operations and Transportation Services Unit
Parking Operations and Transportation services responsibilities include customer service, Point-of-Sale (POS) activities, parking permit sales, parking regulations enforcement (assistance and ticketing), and interpretation and application of the Washington Administrative Code (WAC) and WSU policy. Additional duties include, motorist assistance, lot usage monitoring and reporting, and providing regular maintenance and cleaning duties in all campus parking lots. This position will also coordinate activities related to special event parking and assist training new employees.

Mail Services Unit
Mail Services responsibilities include independently delivering, collecting, and processing both domestic and international mail, packages, and freight. Also responsible for resolving routine customer questions, concerns, and requests.

Position Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Possession of a valid motor vehicle driver’s license.

Additional Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.

Minimum age of 21 and 5 years of driving experience and must possess proof of personal automobile insurance policy and meet the minimum driving record standard.

Available to work daily, evening, weekends and holidays as needed.

Ability to physically handle, sort and deliver mail, parcels, and packages.

Experience working with computers including Internet, Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).

Possession of, or ability to obtain within a year of hire, a Forklift Certification.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience demonstrating effective customer service skills for a high-volume operation.

Experience enforcing rules and regulations in a campus Parking and Transportation system.

Experience providing customer service in confrontational and stressful situations.

Experience using Point of Sale (POS) cash register system.

Experience interpreting, applying, and enforcing Washington Administrative Code (WAC), WSU policies and procedures.

Experience in mail delivery, bulk mail, stock record keeping, shipping, and/or receiving.

Experience with USPS, UPS, FedEx regulations, hazardous materials handling, shipping requirements and policies.
