REPORTS TO TITLE: National Sales Manager - Government
LOCATION: Mid-Atlantic Region Working Remotely
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Government Sales Manager is a pivotal role within the Gerber Sales Team, and will ultimately be responsible for developing opportunities and driving sales at the Federal, State, and Local level. In this role, the individual will work closely with the National Sales Manager for the channel, cross-functional business units, and a contracted Rep Agency. The role requires the ability to collaborate and communicate with the internal team at Gerber on strategic initiatives and planning, as well as independent generation and implementation of sales activities externally to meet and exceed targets and increase market share within the channel.
Identifies opportunities to expand market share and meet and exceed growth targets.
Works to develop a long-term business relationship with key contacts.
Coordinates business planning with Company personnel.
Develops and implements specific action plans to build business pipeline.
Plans and participates in both internal and customer meetings, and ensures that outcomes are productive and results oriented.
Ensures that sales and marketing plans, goals, and polices are consistent with established Company-wide goals.
Creates a strategy and calendar with expected ROI for customer and prospect visits, and other required travel.
Effectively executes required reporting requirements.
Promotes goodwill and a positive image of the Company.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL & PREFERRED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
B.S. in business, management, marketing or a related field, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
Two or more years of outside sales experience, preferably in direct and distribution sales to US Government.
Strong abilities in business development, account management, retail and distribution strategies.
Prior Military Service with honourable discharge, highly preferred.
Experience working with Military Exchanges.
Experience working with LE/Tactical focused sales.
Experienced in preparing and executing onsite account sales presentations.
Strong communication skills with the ability to interact and negotiate effectively at all levels within the organization as well as with external customers.
Strong PC skills, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
Ability to self-motivate and self-manage to meet deadlines and goals.
Experienced in preparing sales presentations and presenting to both small and large audiences.
Up to 50% travel required.
