Possess a valid driver's license for the state of residence
Must be a certified gunsmith
Level III gunsmith or higher
Minimum qualification of 5 years of professional working experience with the FBI Hostage Rescue Team/ FBI SWAT or equivalent US Dept. of Defense Special Mission Unit.
Successful completion of the United States Marine Corps, Weapons Training Battalion, Precision Weapon Section, Machine Shop portion of the USMC Precision Weapons Repair Course (20 weeks), or equivalent weapons-related certified machinist training.
Successful completion of Extreme Accuracy Institute 5-day Advanced Rifle Accurizing School by Gordy Gritter or equivalent precision rifle building program.
Employ safe weapon handling practices at all times.
Ability to perform weapon repair, upgrades, inspections, and maintenance in a high volume environment, performing repetitious tasks and assignments, and meet established deadlines.
Ability to handle changing priorities with limited advance notice.
Ability to work in close spaces and in close proximity to others.
Safely inspect, disassemble, perform repairs, modifications, upgrades, assemble, disassemble, and perform preventative maintenance, and reassemble FBI owned or approved POW Glock pistols and Colt pattern rifles.
Test fire weapons for both function, reliability, and accuracy
Record, package, and secure weapons for lawful destruction and assist FBI personnel during the destruction process.
Secure weapons received from special agents and assist them with weapon related issues, problems, questions, and concerns.
Assist as required in the shipping of TS weapons and supplies throughout the United States when necessary.
Assist at the Issue Point with the issuance of weapons, including temporary weapon issuance, and receiving weapons for repair.
Physical requirements include lifting and carrying bulky items, up to 50 pounds in weight, the use of hand tools, and the ability to execute fine motor skills.
Ability to perform precision weapon modifications and machine or create weapon parts using lathes, milling machines, and other machine shop equipment.
Fabricate/ machine small proof of concept items utilized by HRT personnel.
Refinishing of firearms including complete weapon disassembly, sandblasting, and Parkerizing.
Provide guidance to HRT and FBI SWAT leadership on issues related to weapons, ammunition, and their use.
