The publishing editor - journals is a mid-level role responsible for overseeing management of the production of journal articles, including handling issues, from receipt to online and final print publications, following agreed schedules and standards of quality. Also accesses and updates client systems that support monitoring of journals. Also liaises with editors, editorial assistants, authors, suppliers and internal personnel and contributes to journal account/content management related projects, as may be required
Responsibilities and Duties
Assists authors, editors, and production on article concerns
Advises authors of estimate publication of articles
Provides or suggests issue line-up to editors
Makes follow-ups to authors and editors
Escalates schedule concerns to publisher-clients when needed
Instructs production of changes to proofs.
Checks entries or records of articles in the system and reports problems to production.
Conducts research focusing on information that may be used in current and future
Checks for imminent delays and initiates or recommends measures to mitigate impact.
Evaluates and provides suggestions to resolve quality problems and to prevent similar
occurrence in the future.
Manages strict timelines, budgets and
Verifies corrections and ensures that queries are addressed
Monitors and advises on page budgets, copyediting concerns and as per style, author corrections, etc.
Must have advanced level experience in Microsoft Office applications
Must be customer-focused and can work independently or with minimal supervision
Must be highly organized
Strong analytical and planning skills.
Highly motivated with excellent verbal and written communication, presentation and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups and individuals at all levels of an organization.

Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s Degree or higher
Prior experience in English language and composition, journal editing, communications, project management
Experience navigating advanced technological systems
Exceptional technical and computer skills
Ability to seek the support needed to meet client expectations
Capability to learn and adapt quickly to new systems (technological, organizational)
Self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills, self-directed and able to handle multiple priorities with demanding time frames.
Work Conditions & Physical Requirements
Professional office environment using office equipment (i.e. computers, phones, photocopiers, etc.)
Typical 40-hour work week with extended hours depending upon the needs of business
