Overview
Princeton University’s Plasma Physics Laboratory has an opening within its Information Technology Department for a Database Administrator. This person will be a core component of the Application Development team, holding a key role in the design, implementation and maintenance of essential database systems. Responsibilities will include database maintenance on a variety of platforms, including MSSQL, MySQL and more, aiding the laboratory’s mission by providing a stable and efficient platform to conduct business.

Responsibilities
Develops and maintains applications and databases by evaluating client needs and analyzing requirements
Prepare documentation and reports on maintenance of applications and databases
Formulate disaster recovery plans and execute testing on a regular basis
Support business operations users, the organization’s business system, and other crucial applications
Participate in peer reviews of solution designs
Analyze and resolve technical issues with applications
Aid in consolidation efforts of organization database systems and applications to ensure maximum efficiency and cost savings

Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related discipline
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong multitasking skills
3-5+ years working experience developing and maintaining databases in Microsoft SQL, Microsoft Access, MySQL and related platforms
Must be able to work independently
Familiar with enterprise business systems, such as Great Plains or PeopleSoft
General knowledge of ITIL service strategies and CRMs
Advanced problem solving and attention to detail
Experience writing Crystal Reports against MSSQL databases using SQL Stored Procedures
Experience with business analytics tools, such as Microsoft’s PowerBI
Experience in popular coding languages, such as ASP.net, C#, PHP, HTML5, CSS3, Javascript and more
Familiar with Accounting, Budget and Procurement business practices
