Role Summary

The Operations Regulatory Expert provides in-depth technical knowledge and expertise covering complex policies, processes, products and regulatory requirements. They keep abreast of industry best practices, sharing knowledge with a range of internal stakeholders at all levels, regionally and globally as appropriate.

The Regulatory Expert represents Operations by managing strong relationships with all relevant internal (e.g. IT, Legal, Compliance, Front Office) and external stakeholders (e.g. third party vendors, Custodians).

The Operations Regulatory Expert acts as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), specializing in one of a number of disciplines which include Client Onboarding, Payments, Regulatory Operations, Trade & Transaction, Tax, Reconciliation and Client Management.

The Operations Regulatory Expert is responsible and accountable for the delivery of agreed project outputs to the agreed time, cost and quality parameters within the agreed scope and can act as a Project Manager. In this role you will manage and coordinate the activity of specialists, technicians and analysts to ensure that tasks are performed that result in the project deliverable. Where a project forms part of a wider program, you will have a functional reporting line to a Program Manager.

Role Responsibilities:
Implements the Bank’s regulatory strategy, relevant internal policies and standards
As Operations representative contributes to the interpretation and definition of new requirements that arise from Regulatory
Provide impact assessment of regulatory requirements on Wealth Management (WM) Operations processes
Drafting scoping documents such as Business Requirement (BRD) or Functional Specification Documents through from planning to execution, ensuring that User Acceptance Testing is conducted to a high standard
Develops and delivers appropriate training, knowledge transfer and cross training strategies
Ensures that the project is planned in a manner that delivers to the required cost and quality and within the agreed scope, including appropriate milestone definition, work breakdown structure, dependencies, and assumptions
Ensures that the project work is executed and implemented according to the plan or any agreed changes to the plan and according to agreed project management standards
Ensures relevant and appropriate analysis, management information, and reporting is provided
Ensures that requirements, plans, risks, issues, actions, costs, schedules, benefits, and other related project artefacts are documented and tracked
Utilizes the relevant governance bodies/steering committees for the purpose they are established
Ensures that the project work is compliant with documented standards, templates, and frameworks, and captured in agreed toolsets
Ensures project stakeholder awareness, engagement, and communication
Analyzes and identifies possible risks and issues that could impact delivery and either resolve them or escalate as appropriate
Work with US Lead on implementation of the requirements when the Legal Entity in US are in scope:
Work with Vendors to upgrade systems as necessary to comply with Regulatory
Review and maintain procedure and workflows
Work with IT for reporting requirements - automation
Interface with stakeholders – Legal, Compliance, and Global Change Team for open questions or confirming the requirements

Experience/Exposure:
Experience in leading Regulatory Change or re-engineering projects in financial services industry
Demonstrates a detailed operational and technical understanding of financial products and trade lifecycle
Subject Matter Expert within the field of relevance e.g. Regulatory, Operations processes
Expert-level analytical skills, flexible regarding production problem solving
Experienced in effectively communicating with and positively influencing project stakeholders and team members
Excellent communication skills. Fluent in English, French is an asset
Displays a high degree of control awareness, attention to detail and focuses on providing quality output
A strong team player and ability to work under pressure against tight timelines
The ability to take ownership of process, escalation and client query management
The ability to work in a fast paced banking environment managing multiple priorities
Open minded, able to share information with peers and stakeholders within division and across divisions and regions

Education/Certification:
Undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university
Professional qualification in Prince2 and/or PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) is an advantage
