We are actively looking to fill our Mechanical Project Engineer, home-based on the Southeast Coast to support a few engineering and equipment installations in Charleston, SC and Hazelhurst, GA. Primarily, the candidate will help with new projects in Asia, where most of our manufacturing is conducted.
The qualified candidate should have 5-10 years of experience in extrusion coating and converting of poly coated papers and foils, a hands-on attitude, capable of driving, hiring, training and motivating employees to drive operational performance, creative at managing operating costs with objective knowledge, innovation and proven experience.
Main Duties include:
- Establish and implement a safety program
- Establish and implement a food packaging compliance program
- Hands on management approach for all plant floor activity
- Create a culture for exceptional safety, quality and productivity
- Work with scheduling to optimize labor and set KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators)
- Develop a structured program for hiring, training and discipline
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Combination of education and relevant experience
- Previous operator experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills a must
- Teamwork skills
- Mechanical aptitude
- Technology - Microsoft Office and experience working with an ERP system
- Able to work in an autonomous environment
- Experience implementing a Training & Development program for hourly employees
- While not mandatory, experience or involvement with an Occupational Health & Safety program will be considered an asset
Working Conditions:
- Attend applicable trade and technology shows and look for evaluating new technology, giving appropriate payback analysis
- Capable of working in a design build environment, with the ability to rationalize and make design decisions for used equipment, and retrofit to resolve production problems
- Exposure to machinery sounds and loud noise levels
- Periodic travel is required to our USA plants
- International travel is also required to our Asian plants, minimum 2-4 weeks, 3-4 times per year, depending on circumstances
