An Insurance verification specialist is a health care professional working to ensure that patients' health care benefits cover required procedures. The main focus of a Verification Specialists is to contact a patient's insurance company to verify coverage levels and works with Intake Coordinators to educate them on their benefits information.
Essential Job Functions
- Being proficient in the use of ICD-10 and CPT codes relating to ABA Therapy
- Verifies eligibility of all current and prospective clients
- Determines member benefit coverage by phone, email, fax, or portal.
- Works the Pronto report twice monthly to catch (and update) any changes to patient benefits
- This position requires the Verification Specialists to spend extensive amounts of time on the phone with insurance companies
- Demonstrated knowledge of insurance
- Extensive knowledge of insurance, Regional Centers, Medicaid, and Medi-Cal’s
- Uploading the PIE (private Insurance eligibility form) into CentralReach
- Entering the insurance information into the Meta Data fields in CentralReach
- Supporting in any projects that need to be completed within the intake department
- Perform administrative duties as needed
- Concisely, precisely and accurately document all information into CentralReach
- Research, follow up, and resolve open & pending Insurance verifications in a timely manner
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient abiding by HIPAA
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned to support Autism Learning Partners, LLC Mission, Vision, and Values
- Maintaining an Insurance folder of key phone numbers, claims addresses, notes, and anything else related to checking benefits with that funding source
- Maintaining an Intake Department password book with all of the log-ins, user names, passwords, and instructions on how to check benefits on that specific portal
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent computer, multi-tasking, and phone skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Strong Communication skills (both speaking and writing)
- Ability to work well under pressure, juggle tasks and work efficiently against deadlines
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and adjust workload accordingly
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving and judgment capabilities
- Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented
