Position Summary:
The purpose of this position is to assist in the tax compliance and reporting function for a large private equity fund. Responsibilities of this position include the review and submission of Schedule K-1s and tax returns prepared by outsourcing firms. Additional responsibilities include tax research for issues related to the fund, as well as responding to tax notices and audit and investor questions as necessary. Essential Functions: Review accounting data, financial reports, and supplemental information to be provided to outsourcing firms and identify omissions and potential issues Review tax returns and work with outsourcing firm to resolve issues related to the tax treatment or presentation of particular items Review Schedule K-1s and attached schedules to be delivered to investors for completeness, accuracy, and consistency Review tax returns prepared by outsourcing firms for completeness and accuracy, and analyze and research any issues in connection with the preparation of tax returns Coordinate filing and storage of tax returns Assist with tax payments Research tax issues and document conclusions Assist with compliance for global reporting regimes Assist in preparing and reviewing tax forms Assist with federal and state tax audits and tax notices Assist with preparing responses to investor questions and other special projects Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong quantitative skills and demonstrated analytical and problem solving ability High attention to detail and accountability in analytical assessments Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing with all levels of management Hard-working, detail oriented and committed to producing great end results Ability to thrive in a fast paced, rapidly changing work environment with many competing priorities Self-starter with the ability to multi-task Ability to work in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment Ability to work autonomously and as a member of a team Strong organizational skills Develops and drives accountability for self and others Strong customer/client focus with the ability to provide a superior customer/client experience and build long-term relationships Demonstrates professional maturity that represents the organization’s image Education: Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting preferred Experience: Minimum of 2 years work experience in federal and state tax International and/or partnership experience Prefer experience in private equity and/or hedge fund tax Prefer some tax experience with Big Four firm Other Skills: Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint (Microsoft Office Suite) Intermediate/Advanced Excel knowledge, including ability to summarize data via formulas, lookups, Pivot Tables, conditional formatting, etc. Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment This position generally requires 40 hours per week, but hours may vary depending on business activity Travel Requirements: This position does not require travel.
