We're looking for a Billing Specialist to join our team. You will report directly to the Billing Manager. You will be responsible for processing Government and/or Commercial claims and payments as assigned and maintain required medical records.
Track information for physician orders and physician signatures on a daily basis.
Notify Administration of any missing documents on the patients. Obtain/maintain medical records.
Maintain logs and rosters as required.
Participate in Quality Improvement activities related to the billing process.
Identify and research payer trends based on expected payment.
General knowledge of revenue cycle as it related to medical billing.
Communicate trends to Billing Manager for payers or branches that show an unexpected pattern in billing.
Adhere to Organization’s Policy and Procedures.
Assist department in carrying out various programs and procedures.
Act as a role model within and outside of the Company.
Perform duties as workload necessitates.
Maintain a positive and respectful attitude. Conducts self in an honest, ethical manner.
Communicate regularly with supervisor about Department issues. Report promptly any suspected violation of compliance standards via the open door policy.
Demonstrate flexible and efficient time management and ability to prioritize workload.
Consistently reports to work on time prepared to perform duties of position.
Participate in administrative staff meetings, committees, and special projects.
Recommend new approaches to effect on-going continual improvements to policies, procedures, and documentation.
Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations.
Perform other related duties as require and assigned.
Consistently promote the company’s core values. Maintain high standards of integrity and business ethics.
Complete required annual training.
Ability to manage new processes and new computer systems.
Maintain professional behavior when dealing subordinates.
Communicate with clinical/field staff professionally in reference to unbilled revenue.
Follow up with field staff for general billing practices.
Understand a clearinghouse and understand edits received from payers.
Ability to read and understand an EOB (Explanation of Benefits).
Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED.
2 years previous Home Health or Hospice billing experience.
Advance Microsoft Office skills-basic to advanced Excel a plus.
Homecare-HomeBase experience a plus.
Experience with DDE, E-solutions, Waystar and/or Nthrive a plus.
Possess excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
Ability to handle a high volume of billing and work in a metrics-based environment.
Ability to work with confidential information.
Well organized and confident to work independently, but is a team player.
Accurate with data keying.
Detail- and deadline-oriented with the ability to prioritize and multi-task. Understand timely filling limit guidelines for government and commercial payers.
Very comfortable working with multiple online and computer applications.
Able to follow written processes and verbal direction.
Flexible and responsive to changing business needs. Accept assignment changes based on department needs.
Fast-paced cubicle office environment.
Some stress may occur.
Regular travels if not expected in this position.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, and to speak and hear. The employee is required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
