Who You Are:
The Public Relations and Events Coordinator reports to the Communications Manager and provides support in the execution of public relations strategies on behalf of USHG and its businesses. Working collaboratively across USHG departments, the Public Relations and Events Coordinator will assist the PR team’s work in media relations and the orchestration of events from start to finish. This person will demonstrate excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills, as well as flexibility, a curiosity to learn, and the ability to adapt as goals and strategies evolve.
What You’ll Do:
- Draft pitches and press releases.
- Proactively pitch seasonal stories and events to press with manager support.
- Maintain USHG’s suite of press kits, inclusive of fact sheets, biographies, and photo assets, updating as needed.
- Assist with securing USHG talent representation at relevant events, panels, and buzz-worthy gatherings.
- Work in partnership with the marketing team to help execute and promote on-site activations and events.
- Coordinate on-site media interviews and photo shoots.
- Assist with USHG-wide award submissions.
- Monitor publications for coverage of USHG, its restaurants and industry news.
- Share daily press alerts.
- Log all press placements and track pending coverage.
- Manage the USHG press inbox, thoroughly vetting all opportunities.
- Regularly update media and critics lists.
- Coordinate and execute press mailers, as needed.
- Conduct research and audits on topics applying to pitch angles or overall PR strategy.
- Provide support on opening press and events for new restaurants.
- Cultivate a culture of Enlightened Hospitality for all stakeholders that supports our business objectives and growth.
Qualifications:
- Relevant food & beverage PR experience via internships and/or 1-2 years full time employment.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Restaurant and hospitality experience is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A love of food media and a passion for restaurant storytelling.
- Social media awareness.
- Organized with strong attention to detail and project management skills.
- “Team sport” mentality and ability to assist with cross-functional projects and communications.
- Ability to be in-office (Manhattan) 2-3 days per week.
- Ability to staff early morning, late night and weekend press opportunities and events, when necessary.
