The Education Coordinator is responsible for Atlantic Training Center's EMT education (Initial and Refresher) and BLS continuing education. Additional responsibilities include: oversight and training for BLS medical oversight program, community outreach education for EMTs and first responders, and marketing for Atlantic Training Center EMT/BLS education.
This position reports to the Atlantic Ambulance Corporation Manager - Quality, Education, and Accreditation.
Conducts a regular schedule of EMT initial, EMT refresher, and BLS continuing education courses to meet the educational needs of AAC employees, AHS hospitals, area EMS agencies, and other customers.
Ensures quality customer service is delivered and that internal and external customers' needs are met.
Schedules instructors for all courses and adheres to financial restraints.
Monitors and maintains the quality of all courses, and adheres to all AAC/AHS policies and educational philosophies and to those of regulating organizations (i.e. AHA, NJ OEMS, NAEMT, etc.)
Receives all course paperwork from instructors, completes a course file, issues completion certificates and/or course completion cards as applicable. Maintains instructor files and ensures instructors have necessary certifications and the quality of their presentations is of the highest standard.
Bills students/agencies for services and tracks payments, as necessary.
Completes and approves Payroll for instructors via expense trackers (vendors) or through the AHS payroll program (employees).
Maintains and ensures security of Training Center equipment; ensures proper cleaning and restocking of equipment after each class.
Prepares regular reports on all courses offered, including financial and quality metrics; assists with development of annual budget for department.
Selects instructors and makes recommendations for hire; monitors and evaluates instructors periodically; completes annual performance reviews for instructors. Completes required disciplinary measures for instructors, as necessary.
Conducts instructor meetings as scheduled. Conducts instructor updates as required.
Oversees, in conjunction with AAC management team, all AAC BLS staff education to include annual competencies and in-services related to medical equipment and communications devices.
Promote a culture of collaboration and accountability in order to assure efficient operations and to provide education that improves patient outcomes throughout the community and region.
Work effectively and relate well with others, including supervisors, colleagues, and internal and external customers. Exhibit a professional manner in dealing with others and maintain constructive working relationships.
Assist the Manager with Training Center quality improvement projects and other duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor's Degree preferred Experience:
Recent EMS experience required; minimum of 4 years' experience in an emergency, critical care, or field setting preferred
Prior educator/instructor experience required; minimum of 2 years' instructor experience in EMT/BLS education preferred Requirements:
Valid DL with clean driving record
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, including Excel
Must be able to lift 45 lbs.
