In collaboration with the supervising physician, the Physician Assistant will provide comprehensive surgical and medical care to surgical patients. The Physician Assistant will provide direct health care management to patients and will assist the surgeon during surgical procedures, performing those skills of a first assistant. Care includes: performing admissions from the emergency department for the surgical attending, provide pre-operative consents and write post-operative orders appropriate to surgical interventions, and rounding on the patients throughout their hospital stay.
Bachelor of Science degree in physical science degree from an accredited institution is required
Must be a graduate of an accredited physician assistant program
Must complete courses of training for both basic and advanced cardiac life support
Must be certified or eligible for certification by the NCCPA (National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistant) and Delaware State Board of Medical Education and Licensure
Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification which can be obtained once employed
