Job Description

The power electronics component specialist will be responsible for component application engineering within the region of existing inverter and combined inverter and DC/DC converter systems. As such, the engineer will be required to have a detailed understanding of these units’ core components, design limitations within these components, and the overall capabilities of the power conversion system. The engineer will use this knowledge to support the following:

  • Participate in customer discussions for advanced or acquisition opportunities for power-electronics
  • Assist sales in RFQ responses to OEM customers by reviewing customer requirements and comparing against internal specifications and gathering and understanding these limitations within RB components
  • Collect customer component requirements and document/communicate regularly this status to core component development and document internal decisions regarding component roadmap
  • Conduct feasibility studies regarding component packaging or repackaging to fit customer requirements
  • Participate in regional design activities for variant handling including minor and major redesign of internal components or packaging as well as software functions to meet customer application requirements Qualifications
Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with 5 years of power electronics development or embedded electrical hardware development.
  • 3 or more years of automotive industry experience
  • 3 or more years’ experience with embedded control systems
Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering
  • 1 or more years of experience with power conversion electronic systems; specifically, DC/AC conversion and AC motor control strongly preferred
  • Prior experience with power conversion electronic systems (1-2 years); specifically, DC/AC conversion and AC motor control
  • Prior experience in development of electrified powertrain
  • Understanding of embedded control system software concepts and experience with C, C+, C++, and XML computer code (3-5 years)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to travel internationally for trainings and customer meetings (2-3x per year)
  • Experience with ETAS INCA for calibration and software flashing of embedded control systems
  • Experience with ETAS ASCET diagrams and code generation processes
  • German language experience (reading comprehension and spoken)
