Manages the development and/or implementation of a company’s large/complex projects and programs. Coordinates departmental or cross-functional teams, focused on delivering new or upgraded existing products or services. Manages projects from inception to completion (or transition), including tracking and evaluation of project performance. Ensures that projects are completed on time, within budget, and within accepted quality metrics. Participates in project review and status meetings and communicates project status. Utilizes Waterfall, Agile, or Adaptive project management methodologies to ensure maximum project effectiveness. Motivates project team to ensure optimal performance. May assist in the development of business plans, strategies, and approaches to take advantage of business opportunities.
Leads highly complex projects. Leads and directs the work activities of project team across organizational boundaries. Ensures that programs progress according to schedule and budget.
Conducts complex needs assessments and requirements gathering directly with clients.
Defines and develops program scope, objectives, detailed plans, budgets and metrics for large complex projects. Develops forecasts and responses to variances and trends with the project.
Monitors project execution to ensure all obligations are met. May pursue contract variations, when appropriate.
Responsible for adherence to project plan and budgets for medium and large sized projects. Recommends corrective actions and implements changes.
Identifies and mitigates risks; develops and implements risk mitigation plans.
Procures internal and external resources. Allocates project staff with the required competencies to meet the project objectives.
Drives strategic relationships between internal and external teams. Resolves issues between internal and external groups.
Assists in managing complex vendor relationships.
Responsible for direct communication to relevant senior stakeholders. Assists / supports communications and negotiations with internal or external clients.
Assists in proposal preparation, statements of work, and estimation of costs.
Responsible for driving process improvement for large part(s) of project. Conducts project reviews through the life of the project.
May also drive process improvement(s) across IT Area and Department.
Work is accomplished without considerable direction. Exerts significant latitude in determining objectives of assignment.
Exercises judgment (within broadly defined policies and practices) in selecting and methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
May coordinate the activities of other personnel (Team Lead responsibilities).
Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise
Interacts with management and senior customer personnel on matters requiring coordination across organizational lines and represents the IT dept. as principal contact when performing the project leadership role
Works on complex issues and develops resolutions where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors and/or frequent use of creativity.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a degree in a related field with 7+ years of experience.
5 years of experience, managing complex and large projects
4 yrs. of experience as Agile Scrum Master
Preferred Certifications: PMP, CSM-SM,
Understanding of business objectives, identifying functional/technical requirements, and aligning requirements to feasible solutions.
Track record of balancing multiple priorities with the ability to adapt to the changing needs of the business
Proactive management and takes ownership of project resources and deliverables.
Highly organized and can manage small or large teams
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Strong aptitude for investigating, scoping, analyzing and consulting on applications and processes
