The Account Director (AD) is the owner of one or more agency portfolio of accounts and focuses on managing the agency relationship with the clients. The Account Director is responsible for the highest levels of service, communication, growth and profitability. He/she serves as the primary client advocate, understands challenges and opportunities the client faces and drives strategic thinking, excellent communication and initiatives. The Account Director serves as the voice of the agency, representing Notion’s service offerings, expertise, point of view, taking responsibility for overall success and identifying growth opportunities within the relationship. Successful AD’s partner with the Creative Director(s) while leading a team within the Account Service organization. The Account Director must understand the agency’s offerings and processes, have extensive marketing communication experience and internal team management experience. He/she demonstrates initiative, accountability and is able to work with varying work styles.


  • Builds and strengthens client relationships though leadership, relationship building and strategic program development
  • Maintains knowledge of client’s business and objectives and of their industry
  • Works proactively to address client challenges
  • Ensures that financial management of accounts meet agency standards and processes; reviews budgets and develops financial overviews of the accounts
  • Assumes accountability for scope of work, change orders, budget summaries and invoices
  • Negotiates pricing with clients as needed
  • Guides clients through Notion’s capabilities and processes; presents work to client as appropriate
  • Identifies opportunities within the client’s business and secures incremental revenue
  • Leads growth and development of Notion and staff
  • Helps assign responsibilities and supervises account service staff
  • Applies best practices and learnings from previous projects to elevate work; analyze project effectiveness for continuous learning and improvement
  • Leads teams to develop and present strategies, plans and work to clients
  • Provides input in creative materials and solutions developed by Notion team
  • Leads meetings and calls with clients; ensures all participants understand their roles and expectations
  • Oversees progress of client projects including delivery, timing and budget
  • Ensures that Notion is compliant with client agreements and processes
  • Identifies problems or concerns and addresses with client and/or team members
  • Attends in-person client meetings when possible to continue building relationships
  • Works with leadership/management to assign appropriate team members
  • Informs leadership/management of the status of the account (plans, new wins, issues, personnel, etc.) at least once a quarter
  • Stays on top of industry trends, knowledge and skills through external resources
  • Effectively represents Notion at meetings, public meetings and potential business channels
