Steel City Landscape is a professional landscaping company located north of the city of Pittsburgh. We have provided commercial and residential maintenance and installation services to the Greater Pittsburgh area and southwestern PA for more than 20 years. Our services include but are not limited to, full service landscape maintenance, landscape installation, retaining walls, paver patios, drainage solutions and commercial snow removal.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to manage our landscape installation division. The Landscape Installation Manager/Sales Representative will generate new business, supervise landscape installation crews, and communicate effectively with customers, co-workers and members of upper management. They will utilize professional equipment, quality materials and experienced labor, to deliver a final result that will exceed the expectations of our customers. Position requires extended work hours and flexibility in scheduling.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY WORK ACTIVITIES:

  • Generate new business by applying their knowledge of horticulture and landscaping to effectively procure new landscape installation jobs. Communicate effectively and courteously with potential customers to determine their needs and establish their budgets in order to provide them with a professional proposal that accurately reflects their requests.
  • Continuously train crew leaders and employees to provide outstanding customer service and quality work while following proper safety procedures. Interact positively with landscape installation crew leaders and assist in managing crew members on the job site as needed.
  • Take proactive measures to ensure projects stay on schedule and are completed within established profitability guidelines. Make sure all job details, including labor hours and materials used are properly recorded. Communicate with customers regularly to ensure job is progressing in a manner that meets their expectations.
  • Perform quality control on all finished jobs by completing a final site inspection (walk thru) with job crew leader, followed by promptly contacting the customer to ensure their satisfaction.
  • Submit accurately completed final job paperwork to the office within (1) business day of job completion. (Including all receipts for materials purchased).
  • Correctly operate powered equipment such as mowers, machines, trucks, chainsaws, clippers, sod cutters, pruning saws, etc.
  • Work in conjunction with management team to ensure shop and yard are clean, organized and in good working order. Make repairs and improvements as required.
  • Maintain equipment and trucks (used by crews under their supervision) via daily and weekly routine maintenance checks. Ensure all are cleaned regularly. Inspect all for damages.

REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:

  • Requires previous landscaping experience, preferably in a managerial role.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Plant Sciences or related field preferred, but not required.
  • Extensive knowledge of plants and a wide range of landscaping techniques.
  • Requires a minimum of 5 years of job-related experience.
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license, and have a good driving record.
