Job Title: Interim Pastor - Part-time - Spanish Speaker
Job Overview:
The Iglesia Cristiana Unida, a non-denominational Evangelical Christian Church, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate part-time Interim Pastor to lead our congregation through a period of transition. Our church values sound biblical teaching, spiritual growth, and a desire to reach the local Chicago Spanish-speaking community. The Interim Pastor will provide stability, guidance, and pastoral care while we search for a permanent pastor. Retired pastors are preferred for this position. Our members are majority Spanish-speaking.
General Responsibilities:
· Leadership Stability: Provide a sense of stability in leadership during the transition period.
· Preaching: Serve as the primary interim preacher, delivering consistent and quality Bible teaching.
· Worship Planning: Collaborate with the “Iglesia y Mision” committee and the church secretary to plan and deliver Sunday morning worship services.
· Guidance: Offer guidance to church leadership, ensuring alignment with the church’s vision and enabling joyful and effective ministry and collaborate with our brothers who give sermons so they can continue to grow
· Issue Resolution: Address issues and challenges to make the church more attractive and prepared for a permanent pastor.
· Pastoral Care: Ensure adequate pastoral care by working with committee presidents, deacons, and church members to meet shepherding, and ministry, and needs.
· Church Health Evaluation: Continuously evaluate the general health of the church and develop actions for improvement or correction.
Specific Responsibilities:
· Transition Assistance: Support the church transition committee, other committees, and staff in the pastoral transition process as requested and as schedule permits.
· Pastor Search Committee Assistance: Assist the pastoral search team as requested and as schedule permits.
· Leadership Meetings: Attend all leadership meetings and participate as requested and as schedule permits.
· Integrity and Doctrine: Uphold the integrity, doctrines, values, statement of faith, constitution, and by-laws of the church at all times.
· Counseling: Provide counsel regarding leadership issues as requested and as schedule permits.
· Visitation: Bring the “Santa Cena” to some of our elderly members who can’t visit the church if schedule permits.
Qualifications:
· A strong commitment to the evangelical Christian faith and the mission of the Iglesia Cristiana Unida.
· Proven experience in pastoral ministry and church leadership.
· Sound preaching and teaching skills.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
· Ability to provide compassionate pastoral care and counsel.
· A heart for serving and guiding a congregation through a transitional period.
· Ability to communicate effectively with a majority Spanish-speaking congregation.
· Capacity to work up to 20 hours per week.
· Retired pastors are preferred.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: Up to $1,500.00 per month
Expected hours: 15 – 20 per week
