What you'll do...
Develops complex product sourcing strategies for assigned area of responsibility by collaborating with cross-functional business partners (for example, merchants, planners
Understands commodities to meet long-term specific product needs
Serves as a subject matter and industry expert in understanding multiple commodities and items sourced
Oversees assigned sourcing programs at item level
Influences internal and external business partners (for example, manufacturers, merchants) to bring product and packaging innovation to market
Aligns the sourcing strategy with merchant's annual operating plan (AOP)
Provides insights to guide merchandise flow and replenishment decisions
Incorporates company growth strategy into planning (for example, upstreaming, growth in direct Imports, etc.)
Creates complex vendor decision matrices by evaluating new and existing vendors based performance metrics and long-term potential
Incorporates company strategy into alignment decisions (for example, freshness, upstreaming, product availability, sustainability)
Negotiates with vendors to obtain the best quality products at the lowest sustainable cost
Calculates and understands the business's cost impact of the commodity's initial markup (IMU)
Measures and tracks awarded cost against actual cost through the commitment tracker
Ensures cost keys are accurate
Informs planner and buyer of changes that will affect cost of goods
Develops strategic grower and vendor relationships with multiple-year contracts for business continuity
Develops and maintains supplier relationships that meet company financial, ethical, and sustainability standards
Assesses and develops vendor production, distribution and technological capabilities to ensure adequate supply
Identifies and develops new supplier relationships that meet business needs
Conducts quarterly performance reviews with all vendors
Manages and resolves vendor issues
