Senior Commercial Leasing Attorney

Valence Law Group - Walnut Creek, CA

Senior Commercial Leasing Attorney

Who We Are: Valence Law Group is a boutique transactional law Firm. While the Firm handles a wide variety of real estate transactional matters, the Firm is seeking an experienced commercial leasing attorney to support the Firm’s robust commercial leasing practice. The Firm negotiates leases of all sizes, ranging from small office leases to large multi-building headquarter leases and handles lease negotiations of all types, including office and R&D, industrial and warehouse, and retail leases. The Firm’s tenant side leasing practice involves the representation of clients in technology, fintech, healthcare, life sciences, and retail industries seeking to expand their footprint throughout the Bay Area and the United States. The Firm’s landlord side leasing practice involves the representation of landlords leasing class A office space.

Who We Are Looking For: The Firm is looking to hire a commercial leasing enthusiast; someone who has dedicated most of their practice to commercial leasing and who is interested in continuing to focus their practice in this area. This attorney would handle commercial lease negotiations on behalf of Firm clients independently and collaboratively as part of the team. In addition to reviewing and negotiating leases and subleases, this attorney would review and negotiate ancillary lease documents, such as estoppels, subordination agreements, construction contracts, amendments, and other agreements tangential to a commercial leasing practice.

Our ideal candidate possesses the following:

· Ability to negotiate complex commercial leases and lead and close transactions with little oversight;

· Good judgment;

· Exceptional attention to detail;

· Excellent writing and communication skills;

· At least 8+ years of law firm and/or in-house experience;

Given the Firm’s specific needs, the Firm is not able to consider real estate or other transactional generalists, attorneys interested in pivoting to a new practice area, or attorneys who have had some experience reviewing leases but wouldn’t consider themselves an ‘expert’. The Firm is looking for someone who has reviewed and negotiated 100+ commercial leases and understands the issues of most importance to our clients. The Firm does not require a portable book of business as it has enough work to support this role on a full-time basis.

The position offers the following benefits:

· Competitive salary and performance-based bonuses;

· Low billable hour requirements;

· 401(k) with 4% salary match;

· Healthcare reimbursement plan;

· PTO & paid holidays;

· Flexible work environment and location;

· Ability to work remotely if desired.

Why Choose Valence? The Firm provides a platform to do sophisticated and challenging work in a collegial and flexible office environment.
