The Director, IT & Planning Operations provides leadership in the areas of IT architecture, integrated planning, sourcing & contract management, functional operations as a member of the IT & Planning Leadership Team.
IT & Planning Operations
Works with peers to lead integrated planning efforts to support both functions
Responsible for department communications strategy and execution
Leads special projects and continuous improvement efforts to support the IT & Planning function
Architecture & Planning
Work with IT Leadership to set direction and goals for global IT strategy, planning and architecture, governance, portfolio management and compliance
Oversees architecture processes
Oversees the architecture center of excellence to include best practices and tools used by the architects throughout Carhartt IT
Serve on and chair the enterprise architecture review board
Ensures that key IT platform roadmaps are developed and updated
Lead Carhartt IT’s innovation program. Plan, develop, and work with IT peers to administer complex proof-of-concept and/or special projects related to strategic initiatives or technology advancements
Oversee the enterprise Kanban board and manage weekly stand-ups
IT & Planning Procurement & Supplier Management
Leads the function’s strategic sourcing process in partnership with indirect procurement
Oversees key functional sourcing events
Leads contract negotiation efforts in partnership with legal
Leads contract and relationship governance with strategic suppliers
Staff Leadership & Development:
Oversee the strategic direction and overall leadership for the department and its various functional areas
Hires, coaches and develops roles within areas of responsibility. Assists team in planning staffing patterns for their area(s) of responsibility. Establishes standards for effective job performance and evaluates according to such standards. Delegates these responsibilities to managerial personnel as appropriate.
Coaches and develops staff to maximize individual performance, build future organizational leadership, enhance teamwork and strengthen support of the organization's values, tactics and strategies.
Fiduciary duty to manage the overall planning, forecasting and monitoring of team's annual budget.
Controls expenditures to meet budget objectives, prepares forecasts and operational plans.
Develop and secures approval of a coordinated budget for area(s) of responsibility. Administers or delegates the administration of budgets, approving expenditures, reviewing reports and so forth.
Bachelor's Degree Required in Computer Science or Related Field
Master's Degree Preferred
Required Skills and Experience
10 plus years of progressive IT experience within a $1B Global Business with demonstrated expertise in one or more focus areas:
IT Sourcing and Contract Management
2-4 years of senior leadership experience required.
General knowledge of all IT disciplines and technology platforms
Knowledge of Agile and Lean principles
Demonstrated broad knowledge of major aspects of IT operations, including project management, systems development, systems analysis and design, and budget administration; with broad exposure and practical experience in IT management
Working knowledge and use of Standard IT processes and methodologies (i.e. ITIL, PMI and SDLC)
Proven experience in IT application, data, mobility and infrastructure planning and development
Proven project and process management skill set.
Strong problem solving and decision making skills with excellent written and verbal communications skills.
Ability to implement standards and operating metrics
Outstanding organizational skills with demonstrated ability to prioritize workload and attention to detail
Proven mentoring, listening and coaching skills. Knows when to offer advice or address a situation. Ability to develop others, identifying skills gaps and training opportunities.
