Collaborates with multidisciplinary team to plan and administer medical nutrition therapy to maximize nutrition and health of patients as related to their medical history. Applies current standards and guidelines for dietetics practice and maintains confidentiality. Plans, organizes, promotes and presents nutrition topics to patients, staff and community members as appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required: Registered Dietitian and Oregon licensure within 30 days of hire. AHA CPR certification required by end of month from 60 days of hire and maintained; Computer literacy skills.
Preferred: Two years experience in acute or ambulatory setting.

Physical: Light physical demand level. Able to stand, walk, and sit frequently. Possesses adequate reaction time to respond quickly to unexpected patient care situations. Must be able to see, hear and speak with or without assistive devices. Must be able to lift 25 pounds occasionally to assist in basic patient care and/or to assist with office supplies utilizing proper body mechanics.
Mental: The ability to instruct others. Socially perceptive. Effective use of computers & programs/software as appropriate to job. Ability to prioritize workload to meet changing needs of patient, staff and community. Must possess a comfort level with public speaking as warranted for education needs of patient, staff and community.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
· Demonstrates and applies an in-depth knowledge of dietetics principles, practices, standards and scope in accordance with corporate and departmental policies and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics/Commission on Dietetic Registration.
· Provides nutritional assessment, intervention and education for inpatient and outpatient populations based on clinical standards.
· Prepares and maintains written and electronic documentation as specified in Policy & Procedures.
· Develops, implements and re-evaluates treatment plans in coordination with the healthcare team as indicated.
· Demonstrates teamwork through flexibility in coverage and schedules.
· Provides Medical Nutrition Therapy to all populations that are referred and scheduled.
· Teaches Medical Nutrition Therapy portion of Diabetes Self Management Training classes.
· Creates and presents community and in-house education as appropriate.
· Demonstrates effective planning for future needs in all aspects of nutrition therapy, including cost containment.
· Serves as clinical resource person to staff members in their daily activities.
· Demonstrates the ability to prioritize and effectively utilize time management.
· Actively participates in committees/teams as appropriate to improve policies, procedures, protocols or patient care.
