The primary responsibility of the Senior Investment Analyst is to research prospective stocks and monitor current portfolio holdings, recommending purchases and sales. It is contemplated that the analyst will have coverage of the Consumer Discretionary and Staples sectors.
Research individual securities and industry groups for the purpose of recommending purchase, sale, or holding of the securities.
Fundamental analysis of individual companies includes, but is not limited to: reading company documents, interacting with company management, synthesizing "street" research and building independent company models.
Maintain industry and/or company statistics that supplement in-house databases and research platforms.
Develop thorough understanding and knowledge of mid-cap stocks in respective coverage area.
Attend investment conferences and company presentations.
Required Skills :
Highly motivated, intelligent self-starter with the ability to work independently and as a member of the team and able to determine priorities, plan, organize, and follow-through on assignments.
Willing to internalize and implement American Century's disciplined investment process. Ability to assess business quality as measured by ROIC, project potential growth in revenue, earnings, and cash flow, and create a valuation framework using historical, comparable, and DCF to arrive at intrinsic value.
Able to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in written form with high accuracy and attention to detail.
Forward-thinking, logical, driven, and highly ethical along with creativity, intellectual curiosity, and strong fundamental skills.
Candidate should show leverageable expertise and experience covering the Consumer Discretionary and Staples sectors.
Strong investment research and analysis skills are required.
Desire to show clear conviction on portfolio weighting recommendations.
Minimum of 7 years of buy-side, fundamental research experience preferred.
Working coverage of Consumer Discretionary and Staples with existing working relationships with Investor Relations and financial officers of companies in those industries. Midcap Growth orientation absolutely required.
MBA or similar graduate training preferred.
