Program OverviewThe Comcast Center Cooperative Internship Program (Co-op) is a six-month internship program based in the greater Philadelphia area. The program is designed to identify high-caliber talent to build our organization with the best and the brightest students who come from a variety of sourcing channels, including on-campus career fairs, partner organizations, and direct applications. In this role you will immerse yourself into the Comcast culture, working side by side with innovative and talented Comcasters. You will cultivate meaningful relationships and develop strong interpersonal and business skills that will set you apart from your peers.Additionally, your experience will include: -Engagement: Working on creative, innovative, and thought-provoking projects within various business units at Comcast during your cooperative experience.-Exposure: An inside look into the day-to-day operations of an organization at the cutting edge of media and technology.-Professional Development: Exposure to a variety of professional development topics facilitated through our partners at Comcast University and senior leaders within the organization. These sessions include speaker series, skill-building workshops, and networking opportunities.-Mentorship: Mentoring from fellow colleagues through the Empowering Future Leaders Program (EFLP) to help you navigate your experience, provide coaching, and expand your professional network.-Fun: Continuously develop relationships with fellow interns through social activities, community building, and networking.Role Overview The Video On Demand (VOD) Center of Excellence team is responsible for understanding the VOD workflow and system processes by looking holistically at the entire pipeline. We work with a number of teams and within their work management process to fix systemic problems and areas of concern, by providing information to help reduce their bug tickets, triage times, etc., thus allowing them to focus on core improvements and enhancements for the business. You will be working side-by-side our team to enhance and further build our VOD Data Mart tool to acquire its maximum potential. The CoE Team launched the Minimal Viable Product (MVP) of the data mart in early March providing an end to end view of the VOD ingest system across a variety of systems.Co-op responsibilities include but are not limited to: -Actively participates in team meetings, providing accurate and complete status updates.-May shadow a higher level engineer or participate in a functional rotation to learn more about operations.-Assist in maintaining quality and ensure responsiveness of applications-Collaborate with the rest of the engineering team to design and launch new featuresPreferred Qualifications/Requirements-Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree from a United States-based college or university that has aCooperative learning track.-Major: Engineering Technology, Information Technology, Software Engineering-Minimum GPA: 3.2-Ability to self-direct and manage individual projects-Has knowledge of engineering concepts, skills and knowledge of their application in the area of specified engineering specialty.-Can quickly learn the development and production environment of the team, ability to get the local project stable, code/test a change, create unit tests, integrate with the rest of the team's work, deploy the change into production and validate.-Any skills in Java, Spring Boot, Spring Security and RESTful web services and knowledge of Kafka, DynamoDB, ElasticSearch, Cloud Foundry and AngularJS is a plus-Strong interest in the telecommunications, cable and media industries.-Authorized to work in the United States of America.-Comcast is an Affirmative Action/EEO employer M/F/D/VCore Responsibilities:
