Job Summary:
The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Hospital Medicine at the University of Colorado Denver seeks a Instructor - MD, who is board certified/board eligible pediatric hospitalist to complement the clinical and administrative activities of the section in Colorado Springs. This clinical position will primarily have attending responsibilities at Children’s Hospital Colorado, Colorado Springs. With 24/7 responsibility for admitted pediatric patients, candidates can expect to provide coverage overnight, on weekends and over holidays.

Examples of Work Performed:
Care of pediatric patients admitted to general pediatric wards or observation units.
Care of well newborns and newborns admitted to NICU.
Routine newborn circumcision, lumbar puncture, procedural sedation.
PLEASE NOTE: Candidates may be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.

Salary and Benefits:
The hiring salary for this position is negotiable and commensurate with skills and experience. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Minimum Requirements

MD/DO degree
Board Certified/Board Eligible in Pediatrics

Condition of Employment:
Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal and sex offender background check
Must be willing and able to pass a drug test through Children’s Hospital Colorado
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The applicant should be able to work well both independently and as part of a team.
Ability to work collaboratively with Advance Practice Providers in the section
Ability to be well-organized and efficient in their work and be able to prioritize patient and system needs appropriately.
The applicant should be highly committed to quality improvement, family centered care, and evidence based practice.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience in Hospital Medicine.
Experience in newborn care.
Experience in NICU.
Experience in teaching residents and/or medical students.
Experience in Quality Improvement work or Patient Safety work.
