The Epic (Clarity) Report Writer is responsible for collaborating with operational stakeholders, data and reporting end users, application analysts, to analyze, determine functional requirements, and design, write, and validate data extracts and reports.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Works closely with operational stakeholders, including end user reporting and analytics, to gather requirements, determine data and reporting requirements, and design specifications for the creation and delivery of data and reports
Performs data analysis, develops and tests data/reports, and implements data/report distribution methods to meet customer needs
Works with supervision / project managers to develop detailed work plan tasks, schedules, estimates, and provides status reports as applicable during project and service request workload
Develops and maintains documentation
Provide ongoing maintenance, support and development to assigned applications and implement new products.
Participates on new implementation / installation project teams.
Troubleshoot, research, and solve technically challenging problems involving integrated systems.
Tests and verifies software releases, upgrades and any changes prior to the promotion of code to the production environment.
Generate and update appropriate documentation as per policy and procedure. Including requirements, specifications, change control, end user documentation.
Provide education and training for application end user community – keeping them informed of new release feature/functionality, changes/revisions that impact the operation.
Create and route required operational and management reporting needs as required by management and regulatory agencies.
Familiar with process improvement, demand management and project management methodologies.
Maintain current knowledge of technology by attending appropriate continuing education training/seminars and reading related periodicals.
Level 2 support for report related issues. On-call support required
Sitting for up to 7 hours per day, 4 hours at a time; standing for up to 7 hours per day, 4 hours at a time; walking for up to 2 hours a day, 1 hour at a time. Requires crouching, kneeling, and lifting of objects weighing up to 60 pounds, pushing objects weighing up to 80 pounds. Requires hand and finger dexterity to perform repairs of small equipment and to use computer equipment. Seeing as it relates to general, near, color, and peripheral vision. Hearing as it relates to normal and telephone conversations.
Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or Healthcare Administration or equivalent work experience is preferred.
EPIC Cache certification required (or needs to be achieved within 1 year of hire)
Applicable database and reporting tool certifications desirable (Oracle, Microsoft, SAS, Cognos, etc.) preferred.
TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:
1 – 2 years of General Computer experience is required.
1 – 2 years of Healthcare experience is preferred.
1 – 2 years of Revenue Cycle Application experience is preferred.
1 – 2 years of PC/LAN Support experience is preferred.
PC and Printer knowledge and experience is preferred.
Epic Application or healthcare IT experience is preferred
Call Management System, MS Visio, MS Project experience is preferred.
MS Office is required
Experience in database administration on a UNIX and/or AIX operating system as well as SQL and/or Oracle databases
Diversified knowledge or relational and proprietary databases (Oracle SQL, Cache, etc) highly preferred
Knowledge of technical and end-use reporting tools like Business Object, Cognos, Crystal, Microsoft Office, etc highly preferred
Hospital Operations Knowledge / Experience:
General, Radiology, Pharmacy, Nursing, Physician Services, Laboratory, Patient Care Services, hospital revenue and Patient processing experience preferred.
Minimum 5 years experience in database administration/management, including: capacity planning, tuning, and configuration
Understanding of health information processes in clinical and business areas is desireable
Strong analytical thinking and problem solving abilities
Understanding of Project Management and SDLC methodology
