The Salisbury VA Health Care System in North Carolina is seeking a physician with board certified/eligible in Neurology. The Physician Specialist will join a multidisciplinary program providing complex inpatient and outpatient services with dedicated support staff and operational space. Primary duties are to perform full general neurological examinations on established or newly consulted patients in the Neurology clinics, Inpatient Units or Emergency Department for signs or symptoms of neurologic dysfunction.
The best qualified candidate will have the motivation and leadership to provide oversight clinical care and teaching responsibilities, to include the supervision of residents from Wake Forest University and medical students from osteopathic medical schools. The selectee will have opportunities for research in the area of clinical trials, and academic appointment with Wake Forest University commensurate on the level of experience and interest.
Applicant's length of practice (experience) will be considered by a Compensation Board in determining the salary of the applicant selected.
Work Schedule: Administrative workweek - Monday through Friday, 8: 00 AM to 4:30 PM. On-call duties (evenings/weekends) are required as needed.

Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preferred Experience: board certified/eligible in Neurology, preferred, not required.
