The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, Prince George's County Department of Parks and Recreation, is a nationally recognized and award-winning parks department. The Management Services division is seeking an administrative assistant to support their Organizational Development/Training & Development units. Primary responsibilities include administrative support and front-line service for all participants, consultants, and other contacts. This position will be located in Greenbelt, MD.

Candidates should be highly energetic, a self-starter, capable of working independently and effectively with others in a team environment. The ideal applicant should be conscientious, reliable, detail-oriented; have strong organizational skills, and be able to demonstrate written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. Candidates should have strong proofreading ability, with a focus on accuracy, the ability to quickly adapt to change with little notice. Confidentiality and discretion with business acumen is a plus. This position pays at a rate of $17.00/hr.

Examples of Important Duties
Administrative support, i.e. compose correspondence, complete forms, etc.
Schedule meetings; take, prepare, and distribute minutes as needed.
Project support, i.e. maintain and prepare training materials and packets.
Order and maintain supplies for New Employee Orientation and training program.
Event coordination, i.e. room logistics, catering, A/V equipment, attendance log, sign-in sheets, nametags, etc.
As needed, transcribe, organize and enter data in Excel or other data processing systems.
Create presentations as needed.
Maintain the training registration system, enrollment information and print class rosters.
Maintain electronic and hard copy files.
Maintain training room in a neat, clean and organized manner.

Minimum Qualifications
Previous office experience in a customer service environment required.
Proficient in MS Office, e.g., Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; ability to learn other types of technology, systems and equipment.

Supplemental Information
Traditional office environment with much time spent working with a computer.
Must possess a valid driver's license as there is occasional travel to offsite locations by car.
May need to lift and transport boxes.
Work Hours - Monday-Friday, 9:30 am-4:00 pm; with a half-hour lunch period.
Hours are limited to 30 hours per week.
Schedule may change occasionally based on work program needs.
A criminal background investigation will be completed prior to hire.
