Robotic Research Autonomous Industries (RRAI) is looking for a Head of Hardware to join our team. In this role you will be guiding our EE and ME teams to success. You'll have experience in working in a startup environment, in autonomy and have taken a prototype to scale successfully. Experience in building and leading teams of over 30+ is required.

Plan and direct all aspects of hardware engineering activities and ensure hardware engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with the companies’ objectives.

Manage, lead, grow, and mentor a team of engineering managers and electrical and mechanical engineers.

Drives outcomes while maintaining engagement, and where possible, team consensus by utilizing strong leadership skills

Work in close partnership with product management, engineering, supply chain, production, and field operations/support to ensure completion of the product development lifecycle.

Embrace the startup world and take on new challenges with the initiative to solve difficult problems and drive continuous improvement. Ability to embrace change while minimizing unnecessary volatility.

Drive the development of products from prototyping phase to large scale production.

Enable product and leadership decision making via effective communications of development and execution status with company leadership, engineering teams and project management organization, using both structured and informal methods.

Experience working with cross-functional groups (supply chain, production, field operations/support, hardware/software/mechanical/electrical/integration/test/safety engineers) throughout the entire product development life cycle to ensure that final products meet the requirements/objectives and the product can be effectively released to production and field support.

Experience with design for manufacturing and leading the transition of products from prototypes to serial production.

Demonstrated leadership skills, including building teams, aligning processes/programs/initiatives on the companies’ goals, and delivering hardware products on schedule

Effective cross-functional verbal and written communication skills.

Strong familiarity with mechanical and electrical engineering processes and tools (e.g., Autodesk Inventor, Altium, PLM)

Ability to identify and focus on critical success factors, as they evolve through the life cycle of program and product.

B.S. or B.A. in related engineering, design or management field from an accredited university or relevant experience in unmanned or autonomous systems

10 plus years in hardware management experience

Experience with safety critical applications (e.g., autonomous vehicles, automotive, medical, aerospace)

Experience with rugged applications (e.g., high shock/vibe, large temperature range, mil-spec requirements)
