The Director - Merchandise Planning & Distribution leads the practical application of strategic initiatives in Planning and Distribution. This role is a critical partner to the Senior Buyer along with the Allocation Manager. They drive the business forward to achieve plan results. The primary responsibility of this role is to align the assortment to the financial goals within the category throughout the planning life cycle. This role will report to the Vice President - Planning & Distribution.

Job Responsibilities:
Align with Senior Buyer to lead team and develop strategic vision to drive sales and margin for assigned departments and ensure understanding of the strategy across the team
Direct planning and forecasting of key financial metrics by dept/class/week including sales, markdowns, adjustments, inventory, IMO, retails, costs, inventory $ and units aligned to departmental strategies
Work with Demand Planner on development of assortment strategy for each dept, including style planning and assortment decisions, cluster differentiation, order placement, product flow to the stores, and ensuring appropriate levels of in stock, depth and balance across sizes
Recruit, develop, manage and coach planning and distribution teams to build organizational talent
Responsible for communicating vision to the team and for close partnership with merchandising team to execute against the vision
Direct high- level analysis of business opportunities related to financials and distribution to maximize business results (ex: style plans, sizing, inventory levels, etc.)
Direct pricing execution and pricing (promotional and liquidation) impact to sales and margin plan
Collaborate on marketing strategies; direct planned sales and depth of feature product
Work closely with Field organization to understand customer and localized concerns and how that relates to the distribution of product – depth, quantities, and timing. Collaborate with Field organization on correctables
Lead team to achieve positive financial results and develop associates
Ensure collaboration between Buying & Planning in execution of WIF

Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field (or equivalent experience)
Seven to ten years of increasing responsibility in retail management
Experience in effectively planning and executing departmental strategy
Ability to develop and retain superior organizational talent through coaching, teaching and mentoring
Ability to establish strategy and guide team through strategic direction
Ability to make operational decisions by analyzing facts in a timely manner to drive sales and margin
Communicate with impact to guide relationships at Executive level to entry level
Ability to collaborate cross-functionally to ensure a Customer Orientation across multiple departments
Ability to lead team by communicating and driving business plans that reinforce company culture, champion projects and initiatives, improve sales and gain market share to maximize EBITDA
Knowledge of Planning and Allocation Systems is preferred to guide strategic decisions impacting sales through inventory management
