The IS System Analyst II– Data Analytics provides analytical support to the lab in the form of dashboards and ad-hoc reports. Accurate and timely data provided by this position will help guide programmatic and strategic decisions. This position must have a broad view of where information is stored in hospital’s ecosystem, how to access this information and integrate it accurately. This position will be responsible for analytical support to Laboratory Services leadership and outside departments as necessary.

Uses information technology specific competencies to:
Develop methods and programs for data retrieval from various information systems in the form of ad hoc reports and dashboards
Troubleshoots code using appropriate methods (Visual basic, automation of Excel and Access)
Build scripting programs
Combine data from multiple databases into one database
Documents programs and coding according to departmental and regulatory requirements
Knowledge of technology system interfaces and data integration, networks and operating systems
Understand the specifics of how applications are used within the organization and how to best leverage the data in them.
Maintain strict adherence to all HIPAA rules and regulations regarding the confidentiality of patient information as well as Lab compliance and data standards.
Analyze business processes and user needs to assist in the definition of business requirements and recommendations for appropriate reporting.
Participates in definition of the scope and development methodology for information requests.
Familiarity with data visualization techniques that make complex data sets easy to understand and interpret.
Create and maintain documentation related to Laboratory Services reports and business processes (e.g. data acquisition, quality monitoring and reporting methodologies.
Provides analysis on system design specification and system and product evaluation.
Develops and implements data queries, reports and dashboards as needed.
Demonstrates the ability to obtain, manage and summarize large amounts of data.
Assures data integrity and system survivability by developing and verifying backup systems.
Collaborates well with all health care disciplines to facilitate data exchange and quality improvement activities.
Effectively relates and interacts with internal and external customers.
Coordinates Laboratory and IS resources for project and operational support.
Maintains professional standards by setting professional goals and participating in activities to meet goals.
Participates in project management and leads teams on smaller departmental projects.

Reports to Lab Business Manager with day to day supervision from the IS Senior Analyst in Lab Admin. Provides other assistance to Medical/Doctoral and management staff in the laboratory.
KNOWLEDGE , SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
1. At least three years of significant report writing, software development or programming experience. Healthcare experience preferred.
2. Associate’s degree considered with equivalent experience will be considered. B.S. in related computer science/software development is preferred.
3. Ability to work independently under minimal supervision and communicate effectively with department staff and internal/external customers.
4. Ability to learn new software applications, programming languages and skills as needed
5. Strong skills in data management systems and extensive spreadsheets, database and presentation graphics knowledge are required. Skilled in relational databases management, reporting software tools (Business Objects, Crystal Reports SQL, SQL Server) SQL programming, MS Excel and MS Access 6. Knowledge of R, Python, Qlik products, Sybase, Caché and Oracle is preferred.
MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Note frequency as Constantly (67-100%), Frequently (34-66%) and Occasionally (0-33%) for each requirement. Also note any lifting requirements with pound limit.
