The Employment Services Case Manager will provide support to households served by Shelter House. For each client referred, the Employment Services Case Manager will conduct an assessment of the individual’s previous work history, education, strengths, and employment barriers to help clients set and meet realistic employment goals. Services provided may include but are not limited to resume / cover letter development support, job search assistance, career counseling, coaching to enhance interviewing skills, linkages to interview clothing, identifying transportation options, accessing education or training opportunities, reviewing workplace norms, and assistance in navigating mainstream employment services. The Employment Services Case Manager will seek out and connect with businesses to create partnerships and identify job placement options. The Employment Services Case Manager will collaborate with staff across Shelter House and within Fairfax County’s homeless services system to ensure best practices are implemented.

Salary Range: $40,000-44,000/ year

Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct an assessment of the client’s previous work history, education, strengths and employment barriers to help clients set and meet realistic employment goals.

Provide individualized employment support based on the client’s needs, including but not limited to resume / cover letter development support, job search assistance, career counseling, coaching to enhance interviewing skills, linkages to interview clothing, identifying transportation options, accessing education or training opportunities, reviewing workplace norms, on-the-job coaching to employed clients as needed, and assistance in navigating mainstream employment services.

Utilize a trauma informed care approach in providing services; tailor services to meet the unique individual needs of the population served - victims of domestic violence and households at risk of or experiencing homelessness.

Track all referrals received and collaborate with Case Managers to coordinate the logistics and provision of employment services.

Assist clients in identifying and applying for employment opportunities; track client applications and outcomes.

Support clients in identifying education or training opportunities that align with their established short-term and long-term goals; develop and implement individualized and group training / skill building opportunities.

Seek out and connect with businesses to create partnerships and identify job placement and job shadowing options; track the outreach conducted and partnerships established.

Collect demographic information and other data per grant and contract requirements and as requested.

Collect data to measure the following standardized outcome indicators: (1) persons gain new employment, (2) persons obtain higher paying employment, and (3) persons obtain employment and remain employed for at least 90 days.

Support clients in increasing income through all applicable avenues, such as obtaining benefits.

Maintain complete client records in accordance with agency and best practice standards.

Ensure compliance with all agency policies.

Disseminate all relevant information pertaining to clients to appropriate staff members in a timely manner

Function as a contributing member of a multidisciplinary team; participate in staff meetings and trainings as directed by supervisor.

Collaborate with other Employment Services Case Managers within Shelter House as well as private and public agencies focused on providing employment services within Fairfax County’s Continuum of Care.

Qualifications:
Required:
A bachelor’s degree in social services, human resources, or related field

1+ years of case management or direct services or commensurate experience

Strong written and oral communication skills

Ability to prioritize competing priorities and make sound judgements

Ability to complete tasks while navigating frequent interruptions

Ability to deliver creative, resourceful solutions to unique challenges

Strong organizational and time management skills

Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation

Ability to drive a minivan

Willingness to work evenings and weekends

Preferred:
Experience working with clients facing barriers to employment (criminal history, mental health challenges, language) barriers

Ability to speak a second language at a proficient level

Physical Requirements:
Annual TB Test is required

Ability to sit or stand for long periods

Ability to lift items weighing 10-20 pounds
