Manages the Safety Programs for the Hospital. Responsible for the systematic identification, analysis, and evaluation of exposure to risk and safety liability. Directs the implementation methods to minimize exposure and severity of loss. Provides direction for compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations regarding safety, equipment, and hazardous materials. Conducts annual, monthly, and random Environment of Care Surveys. Serves as the Safety Officer as designated by the Board of Directors and The Joint Commission standards. Chairs the Safety Committee. Uses aggregate data to evaluate effectiveness of Safety Program, identifies problems, needs, and opportunities. Assists in Emergency Preparedness training, drills and readiness for the hospital.
Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Industrial Hygiene, or other related field preferred.
Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP) and Certified Healthcare Emergency Professional (CHEP) certification required or must be obtained within 3 years of hire date. Must have CPR certification or must obtain within 90 days of employment. OSHA 10-Hour certification required or must obtain within 1-year of hire date.
Previous experience in safety and/or industrial field required, healthcare safety experience preferred. State, Federal and The Joint Commission standards and regulations experience preferred. Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, and Excel experience required.
Demonstrates ability to work independently, as well as function as a team. Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability. Must have good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to meet deadlines in a specified timeframe.
