Halo Services Inc. is hiring a Lead Diesel Technician / Diesel Mechanic for our facility located in Loving,
NM. The successful candidate will be required to live in the Carlsbad/Loving area. Candidates not living in the area need not apply unless willing to relocate.
Job Description
Repair and maintenance of Diesel Engines primarily and Gasoline Engines occasionally that power many types of heavy and light duty equipment and vehicles. The Diesel Technician / Mechanic is responsible for repairing diesel engines and all the components that help to make the engines operate efficiently.
Because of the electronics in fuel regulators, emissions control systems, and timing systems, the Diesel
Technician / Mechanic must be able to use a laptop or hand-held computer unit to improve efficiency.
The Diesel Technician / Diesel Mechanic must be familiar with drivetrains, hydraulic systems, ground- engaging tools, and must be capable of obtaining HVAC certification.
The Diesel Technician / Diesel Mechanic is responsible for FMCSA Annual Vehicle Inspections and must be able to become FMCSA Brake Certified. Compensation commensurate with experience, certifications, and education. EOE; All applicants subject to Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Screening.
More specific job duties include but are not limited to:
Safely diagnose, inspect, repair and maintain vehicles and equipment
Train, assist and oversee repairs performed by subordinate employees
Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all inspection forms
Obtain and maintain ASE certifications in the field of automotive/diesel technology
Maintain annual FMCSA/DOT requirements for all applicable vehicles and equipment
Stay current with modern technology, emission standards, safety procedures, hazardous waste handling, and maintenance practices
Utilize computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office as well as parts/maintenance software programs for creation of customer invoices, quotes, warranty claims, maintenance and repair records, creation of checklists and worksheets, and parts ordering
Manage personnel by assigning job duties for the day, delegating workload and collecting timesheets daily when applicable.
Conduct interviews, hire and dismiss shop employees as warranted and when applicable
Perform employee performance evaluations when relevant
Utilize public relations skills to create a professional working relationship with parts and service facilities. Review invoices for accuracy, monitor core credits, refunds, warranty returns, and discounts
Work with the Shipping/Receiving Manager and Field Foremen to schedule vehicles and equipment for repair and maintenance in the shop or the field
Education
Associate's degree or trade school certification in diesel technology but will substitute certificates of training in Diesel powered Engines plus five-plus years of on the job training
