1. Must be currently licensed as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing.
2. Must have a bachelor's degree, associate degree or diploma in nursing, health education, or a background related to the healthcare field either through course work or experience.
3. Prefer a minimum of 2 years experience in a long-term care facility.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Provide leadership in the development of training and educational activities and/or services in response to needs identified by management and the community.
Incorporate commercially produced instruction material and training aids into existing in-service programs as necessary.
Develop and publish the schedule for educational and on-the-job training programs.
Serve on various committees within the facility and the community.
Provides general orientation for new employees.
Conducts orientation for certified nursing assistants and/or nurses; including performing classroom instruction, placing staff for clinical orientation, monitoring progress, notifying Scheduling Coordinator when they will end their orientation.
Provide preceptors with procedure/skills checklist forms to complete for each new staff person.
Provide annual in-service training to all staff concerning all annually mandatory subjects, such as Hazard Communication, Universal Precautions, and others required by federal and state regulations.
Develop and administer self-directed in-services as needs/interests are identified by staff.
Provide continuous skills refresher in-services for CNAs and nurses.
Provide in-services through Staff Development and other departments as identified by department heads, supervisors and staff
Ensure documentation of employee in-services and skill reviews.
