Senior Accountant
Responsible for the support of the day-to-day accounting functions and tasks of Freshway.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Complete assigned duties to ensure the accurate and timely delivery of financial results for internal and external reporting requirements through a robust monthly/quarterly close process.
· Champions internal controls by working directly with Corporate Internal Audit, operations, sales, and administration teams to identify and prioritize initiatives that optimize core business functions and advances company goals.
· Perform SOX related controls in the corporate areas ensuring prudent compliance.
· Participate in assigned audit efforts to ensure timely reporting and sound controls.
· Provide overall accounting and record keeping for Freshway Logistics operation.
· Process weekly Freshway Logistics payroll, including reviewing and maintaining accurate payroll data
· General accounting analysis and journal entry posting, including month-end related responsibilities.
· Research and respond to employee’s payroll inquiries
· Prepares financial and operations reports, including, but not limited to, budgets, forecasts, and efficiency and productivity reports that can be used as analysis and decision-making tools
· Perform month-end close duties including assigned balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany reconciliations, expense accruals, roll forward schedules.
· Financial statement preparation and assist in financial planning and analysis, including business metrics, budgets, and variance analysis
· Perform bank reconciliations and daily maintenance of cash balance including logging receipts
· Prepares daily postings to the accounting system of activity including cash in, sales tax, credit card activity, customer deposits, etc.
· Budgeting and forecasting – driving results to achieve desired financial goals
· Assists with preparation of external audits as well as federal or other governmental agency requirements
· Look for ways to increase the efficiency and effectiveness for accounting department activities and overall company operations; recommend solutions, design, and implement process improvements
· Work on assets and capital projects including approval, finalizing, assigning asset tags, logging into system, and completion of the process
