Do you love to cook for large groups of people? SOME has an opening for a Kitchen Manager that will be charged with preparing healthy meals according to budget constraints and SOME standards. The ideal candidate will have experience with cost management and very proficient in measuring cost per plate. SOME offers a stable environment (our kitchen has only closed one day in 48 years). With 40+ people promoted this year there is no end to where we can take your career.

Position Description: Manages daily operations in Kitchen to provide breakfast, lunch, and meals for delivery to programs. Plans menus and creates economical and nutritious meals.

Schedule: Tuesday- Saturday 6:30 am - 3:00 pm

Required: High School Diploma; 3-5 years of institutional food service or dining experience; previous supervisory experience.

Preferred: Bachelor's Degree or Culinary Arts Degree; 5+ years in institutional food service or dining experience; previous supervisory experience

Required License/Certification: Food Managers License by the District of Columbia Department of Health, Driver’s License.

Expected Contributions:
Kitchen Operations Management – The Kitchen Manager oversees the kitchen in its entirety. This person insures that food safety guidelines are taught and observed. Teach cooks about various food preparation techniques and safety regulations. Maintain inventory and order food and supplies weekly.
Meal Preparation – Oversees preparation of breakfast, lunch, and meals for delivery daily. Plans meals for the Central Kitchen Program to provide meals that meet nutrition requirements for children and the aging. Also receives donations and repurposes meals. The KM also ensures meals are ready for distribution for mealtimes and delivery.
Reports to: Dining Room, Program Manager
