The Director of Product Development & Brand will be driving the brand strategy and supporting in crafting the roadmap to meet our revenue goals by developing and launching new products that leverage our current retail footprint and trusted presence in the health and wellness categories, primarily focused on new moms, babies, and kids.

While the roadmap may include licensing unique, patented products, we are seeking a hands-on Director who can drive the development of our own products for success in mass retail. This includes developing a process to continuously generate/identify and evaluate new concepts, create prototypes and testing strategies, and execute on-brand launch campaigns.

You’ll be part of a nimble and collaborative team that moves from concept quickly. As part of a small company, you will need to be resourceful in stretching your budgets and locating appropriate technical resources or subject matter experts. This Director needs to have a sense of urgency, be passionate about the Mom & Baby space, understand the challenges of mass retail and overseas production, and have experience in brand management and consumer packaged goods.

This role reports into VP of Marketing

Responsibilities

  • Develop a strategic product roadmap that leverages our current product portfolio and retail footprint and expands into adjacent categories.
  • Manage and execute the product development process at UpSpring: from concept to product launch.
  • Define the brand strategy for each new product – collaborating with the Marketing team for integrated marketing activations in traditional media, digital, social, direct marketing.
  • Identify, evaluate, and negotiate potential product licensing opportunities.
  • Lead and analyze consumer research activities to infuse product innovation.
  • Complete product assessments, conduct analyses, and develop a strong and balanced business case for new products.
  • Manage an active product pipeline developing a process for continuous ideation and concept evaluation.
  • Develop an intimate knowledge of all relevant regulations, market trends, and competitive landscape.
  • Achieve aggressive revenue growth YOY via new product launches.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong consumer packaged goods (CPG) experience in a mass retail environment.
  • 5+ years experience in product development/brand management at a CPG company
  • Strong strategic mindset with a proven track record of bringing consumer packaged goods from concept to market.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and able to work in an entrepreneurial environment

  • MBA in marketing is preferred
