Accounts Payable Manager

This is a fast paced role in a successful, established and growing company. The accounts payable manager is a skilled managerial position that is responsible for the management of the accounts payable process across the entire multi-company organization. This is a hands-on managerial role supervising and supporting a team of accounts payable professionals.

Critical job functions

  • Oversight/supervision

o Daily coordination of accounts payable professionals to ensure that transactions are processed timely and accurately, and that payments are made in accordance with company policies

o Facilitating collaboration and cross-training of accounts payable professionals

o Selection and hiring of accounts payable personnel as needed

o Preparation of journal entries to ensure that accruals for unprocessed invoices are made timely and accurately

o Ensure accuracy and timeliness of general ledger accounts related to accounts payable

o Establishing, monitoring and testing of standardized procedures to ensure consistency among the entire team

o Identification and development of process improvement opportunities

o Cooperation with other departments and personnel integral to the payables process

  • General duties

o Review of all invoices for adequate documentation and approval

o Determination of general ledger accounts, job numbers, and other identifying information to accurately process invoices

o Monitoring of vendor statements and accounts payable reports to ensure that invoices are paid timely

o Monitoring and analysis of various activities to provide support for income tax return preparation (meals, entertainment, charity, rent, per diem, etc.)

o Annual processing of Forms 1099

o Other duties may be assigned, including rotation to other operational accounting areas as needed

o Overtime will be required during periods of high activity

  • Analytical focus to be able to identify trends, discover causes of variances, and identify improvement opportunities
  • Intermediate skills with standard office software (MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook)
  • Ability to analyze and follow detailed procedures and propose new procedures as needed
