Reporting to the Perioperative Information Systems Manager, VP of Perioperative Services in Perioperative Administration, and Administrative Manager of Perioperative Services, this role will apply strong technical skills to manage projects requiring complex analytics to support Perioperative operational efficiencies and strategic planning

This position will support data collection activities across the Perioperative Services spectrum and will need to wear multiple hats to resolve highly complex problems requiring in-depth analyses of variable factors. This role will interface with frontline staff and managers to understand current state constraints, issues, and opportunities to develop systems that support short and long term operational goals in alignment with the executive leadership teams’ vision and goals.

Involves analysis of complex business problems using data to provide insight to decision makers. Identifies and interprets trends and patterns in datasets to locate influences. Develops forecasts, recommendations, and strategic / tactical plans based on business data and market knowledge. Works with business and / or clinical units to understand and prioritize data and information requirements. Creates specifications for reports and analysis based on business needs and required / available data elements. Optimizes the performance of enterprise business intelligence tools by defining data to filter and index that add value to the user. Develops business cases to support enterprise-wide business intelligence solutions.

Required Qualifications

Three to five years of experience in business intelligence, business intelligence reporting, data mining, data analysis, and/or statistical analysis
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
Thorough knowledge of relevant internal databases, BI applications and tools. Ability to produce high-quality reports and documentation
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage complex information, assess problems, and develop and effective solutions
Detail oriented, with ability to manage time and organize competing priorities
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex information in a clear, concise manner
Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with a broad range of professional and technical staff
Proven ability to serve as a technical resource providing advice and counsel on business intelligence issues
Thorough knowledge of relevant internal databases, BI applications and tools
Highly proficient in all MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), database applications, and analytical software (such as Tableau, R, or others)
The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in related area (IT/ Information Health/ MS, operations research, computers/systems engineering)
Familiarity with highly complex logical data design and data mapping or data conversion.
Good negotiation and influencing skills
Experience in data integration and the specification of data services
Proficient in SQL programming

The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations is required.
