We are seeking an energetic and organized individual to join our highly successful Swim School management team. Qualified candidates will have a history (5+ years) in the Aquatics industry running pools, swim programs and/or teams. The Head Swim School Principal is responsible for programs, staff and budget as well as ensuring the effectiveness of Asphalt Green’s unique teaching methodology.
Our goal is to provide the best swimming instruction in New York City. Asphalt Green’s Swim School provides competitive learning programs for swimmers of all ages and backgrounds, from four month olds to elite competitive swimmers (1500 swimmers per semester, 500 private lessons along with 3,000 children in our learn to swim program).
The schedule for the position is Tuesday through Saturday. There is no flexibility on the schedule. Hours are typically 10:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m.
Monitor registrations and participation rates for all swim school programs. Annual Swim School budget = $4.5M including Swim School, private lessons and summer swim camp
Track retention and revenue using fitness industry specific software (Active) to create reports for senior management.
Assist with administrative functions including payroll for full time and part time employees
Manage and evaluate staff (3 full time and 110 part time) providing clear direction and support.
Develop a close working relationship with all staff and promote positive working relationships across campuses and sites.
Work with Human Resources to identify, hire and train full-time and part-time staff.
Programs and Curriculum
Monitor competition to ensure AG’s classes are of comparable or superior quality, consistently evaluating, against AG curriculum.
Work with the Director of Aquatics to review, enhance and develop curricula for programs and activities.
Work with the Waterproofing Principal to ensure that AG’s swim school curriculum is followed by the staff assigned to AG’s Waterproofing Program (AG’s signature learn to swim program).
Provide strong customer service and ensure a positive and supportive environment for program users and staff.
Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Recreation Science or a related concentration or equivalent work experience.
At least five years experience in management/supervision of staff.
At least two years experience in instructing/coaching related programs.
