Overview:
Responsible for all activities related to environmental, health and safety to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local requirements and laws to prevent violations, hazards and injuries. Develop health and safety programs to educate employees and to prevent hazards, risks, and injuries. Responsible for supporting all Facility and Maintenance operations, troubleshoot and diagnose issues as well as making minor repairs where feasible. Maintain relations with contracted vendors, assist them when needed and maintain the interior and exterior of the plant.
Responsibilities:
- Implement environmental, health, and safety programs at the facility to meet regulatory compliance and company goals. Maintain and update existing environmental and safety procedures, standard operating procedures, and policies.

Assist with incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning and execution.

Maintain and work within department budget. Prepare and maintain analytical reports and data tracking.
Partner with manufacturing supervisors to review and improve environmental health, and safety practices and ensure adoption by employees. -
Ensure compliance with safety policies, regulations, and reporting in manufacturing.

Perform hazardous risk assessments for tasks or jobs to identify potential hazards and develop risk prevention plan to mitigate them. Serve as the leader of plant monthly safety committee.

Determine appropriate requirements for PPE and communication of hazards to supervisors.

Perform emergency response duties as required by the emergency response plan and participate in practice drills, plan reviews, and EHS department safety training programs. Perform EHS-related inspections and audits with appropriate corrective action.

Represent the company in a positive working relationship with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies, and property insurance representatives.

Attend all meetings and conduct training as scheduled.

Perform routine building maintenance, including plumbing, carpentry, painting and HVAC.

Diagnose and troubleshoot minor issues and repair where applicable.

Work with outside vendors/contractors and assist when necessary.

Complete any administrative duties assigned, including safety audits, fire extinguisher checks, etc.
Qualifications:
- Education (Required) High School Diploma or GED; (Preferred) Bachelor's Degree in Environmental or Safety Science

5-10 years’ experience in a manufacturing and maintenance environment

Some knowledge of HVAC, electrical, carpentry and maintenance systems

Must have possessed a valid industrial fork truck license

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
-
May be required to work outside of normal working hours

Ability to work in different climates, both hot and cold

Ability to read prints
-
Ability to read and interpret operating and maintenance instructions as well as other manuals
-
Ability to work with others and take directions from supervision and management.Well developed written and oral communications skills.

Ability to work effectively with other departments in the development of EHS programs.

Physical Demands

Sitting, standing, walking, bending and twisting as necessary. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment such as gloves, safety glasses, and metatarsal guard shoes, etc., as outlined in established policy. Will be exposed to extreme environmental conditions (hot, cold, humid). Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Able to work extended shifts and weekends as needed.
