WHO YOU ARE:
Our client is looking for a Finance Manager to oversee the firm's accounting, client billing, accounts payable, accounts receivable and financial reporting for the law firm. This person must be experienced partnering with senior leadership on financial reporting. You can work a hybrid schedule out of the firms Chicago, New York or Washington D.C. Office. Must be experienced at preparing monthly reports and communicating variances in a timely manner.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Prepare monthly financial reports and communicate significant variances

Execute changes to procedures, policies, and systems to reduce risk and help the firm scale.

Synthesize, interpret, and challenge data to develop meaningful insights that inform recommendations.

Maintain and manage all accounts payable/receivable (AP/AR) transactions, controls, and accounting procedures.

Review the semi-monthly and monthly payroll files to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Own the annual budget processes and partner with other functional leaders to develop budgets.

Own monthly/quarterly closing processes.

Prepare timely journal entries; perform requisite reconciliations including reconciliation of partner equity accounts.

Manage retainer, billing, vendor, and user data both in the billing, accounting, and expense systems.

Assist with ad-hoc financial analysis, modeling and special projects.

Become a subject matter expert in Power BI, ProLaw and other firm financial platforms.

Cross-train with Chief Operating Officer on payroll duties and treasury management to perform in COO's absence.
WHAT YOU NEED:

B.A. or B.S. degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field

At least 4 years of accounting/finance experience,

Prior management/supervisory experience

At least 1 year of law firm experience

Must be comfortable coding transactions and handling routine questions about budgets and compensation.

Experience with financial management, compensation and budgeting within a mid-size organization.

Knowledge of or familiarity with ProLaw, Aderant Expert Sierra

Power BI experience desired but not required.

Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and IOLTA compliance requirements.

Advanced skill level in Excel with ability to rapidly adopt new tools and systems
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Full-time, hybrid position - can be based out of Chicago, New York or Washington D.C.

Compensation range: $100k-$160k
