Innovation Architect

Job Summary
The Innovation Architect is responsible for evaluating new and existing Aflac platforms, tools and technologies to provide analysis, points of view and practical/measurable direction on how to achieve digital transformation. Responsible for the development and care of consultative customer and executive relationships, technical discovery process participation, and the technical design of prototypes, proof of concepts and pilots. This role will be involved in business and technical evaluation and risk management as well as the prototype/POC/pilot delivery lifecycles, with broad focus on solution architecture excellence, consistent delivery, innovation, and technology alignment to Aflac business strategy.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Participates in the design and building of innovative technical solutions to solve challenging business problems

Participate hands on throughout the full idea lifecycle including business ideation, architecture/design, coding, testing, and implementation

Follow insurance-industry market trends, and help identify technology market disruptors, and business-differentiation opportunities

Collaborate closely with internal and external customers to brainstorm innovative ideas and solutions

Quickly learn and leverage new technologies and industry-leading design and development standards and best practices including programming and test-driven development

Provide strategic thinking, solutions and roadmaps while driving architectural recommendations

Ensure architectural adherence through blueprint and design reviews

Assist in the remediation of application stability and performance. Adopt and communicate new concepts, ideas, techniques, best practices and technology assistance

Perform project level design, debug and performance analysis

Responsible for the development and production support of enterprise application utilities and models to include publishing, best practices and guidelines for supported technologies.

Work with vendors and product management areas to establish required infrastructures and frameworks

May require up to 10% travel

Performs other duties as required

Qualifications

Education & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and six to eight years of relevant experience in technology evaluation and solutions development or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Advanced experience in delivery/implementation

Experience in technology (tools/platforms) evaluation and envisioning, planning, and scoping of integration work effort

Experience in project envisioning, planning, and scoping of work effort

Experience or exposure to Customer Experience (CX), Design Thinking or other Human-Centered Design techniques (preferred)

Job Knowledge & Skills
Solid understanding of Business and IT strategy and principled approach to broad architectural challenges and opportunities

Ability to move between high level technology and architectural review/design and tactical work of delivering projects

Deep understanding of the InsureTech solutions, as well as key solutions and services such as Cloud, Platform & Productivity, Business Analytics, Devices & Mobility

Large enterprise deployment experience in complex environments; Aflac enterprise experience (preferred)

In depth knowledge and understanding of the competitive marketplace for InsureTech solutions
