Key Accountabilities:
  • Analyze, design, and implement backup infrastructure architecture that ensure high levels of data quality and availability
  • Define, communicate and enforce standards, policies, and procedures as they apply to the use of the data protection technologies
  • Responsible for providing guidance daily to a production operations team on best practices for backup and recovery to ensure that established standards, policies and procedures are followed
  • Establish objectives to all critical and complex issues to achieve results by coaching other to exercise independent judgment in methods, techniques and evaluation criteria
  • Partner with business owners and application development teams to identify each application’s requirement and then propose and implement appropriate backup solutions and standards
  • Develop plans for, and the keeping of, backup systems application software, firmware and clients at current release levels
  • Update management with dashboards that provide visibility in the overall operation and performance of the backup environment by using daily reports to gain and share insight
  • Design disaster recovery plans, test in the different business groups, and enforce backup and archival procedures
  • Schedule and facilitate several application recoveries on a rolling annual basis
  • Responsible for all backups and recoveries in our Data Centers and branch offices
  • Leverage the right solutions for required workloads to reduce and maintain costs
  • Educate the operations team on monitoring backups, how to escalate and correct issues
  • Additional duties as assigned
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience designing building and maintaining storage and data protection technologies
  • 5+ years working as a Linux or Windows administrator
  • Experience with Veritas Netbackup or similar enterprise backup solutions including duplication appliances, applications and tape systems
  • Expanded ability to write scripts and codes to automate processes
  • Experienced in implementing and maintaining a broad range of technologies used to backup and protect data in an enterprise class environment
  • Experience with business continuity/disaster recovery process, creating and maintaining disaster recovery documentation, configuration details and software necessary for recovery.
  • Expertise of SAN systems as it relates to the backup, replication and protection of data
  • Experience building data protection solutions using the Netbackup, Veeam, Recover Point and Quantum is preferred but similar experience with other Tier 1 vendor technologies will be considered.
  • Has worked in an enterprise environment in excess of 500 servers
  • Advanced knowledge in either Red Hat Linux or Windows administration
  • Experience in a VMWare ESX environment is a must
  • Database protection experience is a must
  • Experience with automation tools like Ansible or Puppet is a plus
  • Ability to work independently on projects and duties without constant supervision.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and an ability to work across all aspects of the business levels of the organization and outside contacts
  • Authorized to work for any employer in the United States
  • Ability to pass a thorough background check
