We are Austin Kayak Tours! We are a mobile kayaking/paddle boarding tour company that gives tours of Lady Bird Lake. We operate out of two E350 vans and a 30-foot trailer which houses all of our kayaks and paddle boards.
As a Tour Guide, you'll be expected to:
- Lift and carry multiple kayaks and paddleboards to and from the van/trailer. Can be up to 100 pounds.
- Be physically fit and capable of kayaking for an extended period of time.
- Confidently drive a 30-foot trailer.
- Be comfortable speaking in front of a crowd.
- Be knowledgeable of the Austin area.
- Give over the top tours to guests.
- Have tons of fun on the water.
Pay is divided into small and regular tours:
- Small $40 = working a tour of 2 or 3 guests
- Regular $60 = working a tour of 4+ guests
Tours usually last 2 hours in length on the water, plus any added time for labor and driving equates to approximately $20/hour + tips. On top of our standard pay, any tips received are divided evenly between all of the employees working the tour.
We are a reservation-based company (some shifts aren't guaranteed). We have tours available all day, every day, 7 days a week. We are busiest during the weekends and evenings, so they are a must!
This is a part-time, 1099 contract position.
