Parking Services is seeking applicants for a part-time Parking Special Events Assistant. This person will primarily assist with special events. Secondly, assist with parking enforcement activities and Alumni Square Garage operations as needed. Primarily weekday morning work hours and occasional weekends, though candidate must have a flexible schedule.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The following duties are customary for this position, but are not to be construed as all-inclusive. Duties may be added, deleted and assigned based on management discretion and institutional needs.
Serve as an ambassador for campus when interacting with and assisting customers and the general public. Assist customers with parking access issues.
Provide support in the field to the Special Events Manager in implementing large special event parking operations. This can include: equipment management, field personnel training and supervision, data collection, traffic management and cash handling.
Independently run smaller special event parking operations..
Provide back up for Alumni Square Garage customer service.
Enforce parking regulations. Issue citations to vehicles parked in violation of parking regulations. Immobilize and/or request tows for vehicles as warranted.
Assist with revenue collections.
Perform other duties as required
Knowledge and Skills Considered Essential for Success:
Must demonstrate basic mechanical and technical aptitude.
Must be familiar with MS Windows operating system and common MS Office software and internet browsers.
Must have excellent customer service skills and be able to independently handle a situation with an irate customer without escalating the conflict.
Must have strong problem solving and decision making skills.
Flexibility in scheduling is required.
Must demonstrate well developed problem solving skills.
Must demonstrate ability to pay attention to details.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving history.
Minimum three years of customer service or related experience involving direct interaction with the general public.
Must successfully complete departmental training program to fulfill expectation of job within 6 months of employment.
Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions, year round.
Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods of time.
Must be able to lift or carry equipment such as barricades or wheel immobilizers weighing up to 25 pounds.
Hourly Rate: $12.00
