OVERVIEW: The Love146 Video Editor will be responsible for producing video content that tells the stories supporting our work with children, our fundraising, and awareness efforts on behalf of the issue of child trafficking and exploitation. This position will excel in creating inspiring, captivating, and professional video content for social media and live events – all with limited resources. In addition to capturing interviews and supporting footage, the Video Editor finds and shines diamonds in the rough: turning stories, audio recordings, written content, training materials, mediocre phone video clips, and old footage from staff and supporters around the globe into succinct, cohesive and compelling videos all through the magic of editing. From time to time, they’ll also get to film our work directly, which will involve travel.

SALARY: $21.50 - $26 Hourly

STATUS: Part-Time

LOCATION: New Haven, CT OR Houston, TX

TRAVEL: Domestic & international, 2-3 trips annually



Pre-Production & Content Gathering (30%)

Be the eyes and ears within the organization, ready to pounce on compelling content to gather primary footage & b-roll for potential videos. Look at the organization’s static materials (PDFs, trainings, presentations, web pages) for quality content that could be conveyed in video.

Pitch new video concepts that advance Love146’s communications plan & goals, and/or illuminate Love146's mission.

On projects involving those affected by child trafficking and exploitation, work closely with programs staff & leadership to propose a plan and approach to production which understands and respects the needs of those involved, remaining positive and resourceful with challenges (such as anonymity, language barriers, and therapeutic concerns).

Manage and maintain Love146’s cameras and equipment; advise on the acquisition of new equipment to support production.

Conduct interviews as needed with staff, supporters, and (with oversight) children/clients.

Motivate, coordinate, and follow-up with supporters, volunteers, and staff to secure supporting video clips.

Oversee any filming of official and local events.

Video Production & Editing (50%)

From start to finish, produce and edit videos that range from storytelling to informational, for use on our marketing channels, including social media, email campaigns, fundraising & webpages, and events & trainings.

Manage all post-production tasks including editing audio and video, managing translation and transcription of audio/video interviews, subtitling, producing motion graphics, encoding in various formats, audio sweetening, sound design,

and color correcting. With limited resources, source music, stock footage, and work with footage of various qualities and from different sources.

Collaborate with the communications staff and wider team to incorporate feedback, from initial concept to final edits.

As needed, remix and edit existing videos (possibly with little access to raw footage).

Marketing Support & Team Contribution (20%)

Participate in weekly communications team meetings, contributing an integrated sense of where video can function and fit into (or lead on) campaigns, events, and marketing efforts.

Work with team members to deliver on creative visions and to meet all deliverable deadlines.

Understand and adhere to the Love146 child protection policy, brand guidelines, and other best-practices of dignity and privacy in gathering sensitive communication.

Contribute to the ongoing development of guidelines on conscientious storytelling with regards to the issue of child trafficking.

Organize and maintain video archives on our shared drive.


A passion to end child trafficking and exploitation.

3-5 years of relevant experience, including strong experience with integrating video and visual effects. Significant filming experience a plus.

A strong portfolio, demonstrating range that includes emotionally compelling video storytelling. Experience creating for social media and training/how-to videos a strong plus.

Resourceful, hopeful, resilient, and perceptive, with a make it work attitude.


Exceptional eye for video production, photography, and visual communication.

Awareness of trends and techniques in the field of video and its use in online marketing.

Mastery of whatever video editing software you prefer (Final Cut or Premiere, etc…). Standouts will have experience with graphics & motion software (i.e. Adobe After Effects, Photoshop).

A keen sense of attention span and editing for length, knowing what clips will be needed to carry your story, and what is getting in the way.

An understanding of brand, and a general graphic/typographic sensibility.

Impeccable sense of timing, pacing and ability to work with music.

A strong understanding and perspective on the technical requirements (and especially non-requirements) of video created primarily for social media, web use. Ability to work with footage, audio, and graphic materials that could be seen as sub-par - and still push towards a successful outcome that achieves cohesion and emotional resonance.

Ability to anticipate and effectively communicate and solve practical problems or issues.

Ego free. Goes beyond the ability to “accept feedback,” and actually sees the collaborative process as non-threatening and energizing.

Self-motivated with an ability to keep projects moving with minimal supervision, as well as capacity to work under strict direction.

Strong written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on attention to detail.

An understanding of Love146’s brand and vision to expand our storytelling capacities.


The Video Editor must spend long hours sitting, using cameras, filming, and office equipment and performing operations, which may be physically demanding and require intense mental and visual concentration and eye hand coordination. The incumbent is located in a busy, open office area with regular interruptions which may cause stress. The incumbent is required to deal with a wide variety of people on various issues. Occasional travel, both domestically and internationally will be required.
